There is a great concern in Israel with the fears of a third Palestinian Intifada. Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu has pledged firm action against what he called an unrecognised ‘wave of terror’, warning there was no ‘magic solution’, with stabbings, fire bombs, stone throwing and riots rocking East Jerusalem and the West Bank.
‘We are in the midst of a wave of terror’, Mr Netanyahu said, adding ‘these actions are mostly not organised, but the result of untruthful incitement from Hamas, the Palestinian Authority and the Islamist movement.’
At the recent General Assembly at the UN, Prime Minister Netanyahu gave his address, which was inspiring and brilliant. He spoke in great length, and here is just some of his words. He begun by saying his was a moral responsibility, speaking only the truth. The great threat fuelling Iran’s aggressions were billions of $$$’s in sanctions relief, making war more likely. Iran supplied Hezbollah with precision-guided surface-to-surface missiles and attack drones aiding Hamas, and Islamic Jihad building armed drones in Gaza, and Iran making other threats against Israel. Stating, every few weeks Iran and Hezbollah set up new terror cells in cities throughout the world. In the wake of the Nuclear deal, Iran is spending billions of dollars on weapons and satellites. Saying, the greatest danger facing the world is coupling militant Islam with nuclear weapons. Iran is also building intercontinental ballistic missiles whose sole purpose is carrying nuclear warheads.
It is not easy opposing something that’s embraced by the greatest powers in the world. Believe me, it would be far easier to remain silent, but throughout our history the Jewish people have learnt the heavy price of silence. I refuse being silent – the birth of Israel is a testament to the indominatable spirit of my people – Israel shall do whatever it must do to defend our state and people. He then stated Israel is a world leader in science, technology, cyber software, water, agriculture, medicine, biotechnology and many other fields, and is the innovation nation.’
Saying Israel remains committed to achieving peace with the Palestinians, and is prepared immediately to resume direct peace negotiations with the Palestinian authority without preconditions whatsoever.
‘Unfortunately, President Abbas said he was not prepared to accept this. I remain committed to a vision of two states for two peoples, in which a demilitarised Palestinian state recognises the Jewish state. Stand with Israel because Israel is not just defending itself, Israel is defending YOU’.
